Laurence G. Cripe
Born in Tucson, Arizona in 1952, Laurence G. Cripe grew up in a military family, moving frequently across the United States. This diverse upbringing shaped his perspective and curiosity about the world.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he built a distinguished career in law enforcement, including 22 years with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. He became the first deputy accredited in crash reconstruction by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction
His career included:
- Forensic investigation of hundreds of major collisions
- Expert courtroom testimony
- Instruction in officer safety, DUI investigation, and firearms
- Leadership roles in training and internal affairs
A Lifelong Passion for Science Fiction
Cripe’s fascination with time travel began at the age of nine after watching Journey to the Center of the Earth. From there, he immersed himself in the works of legendary authors like Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, and Robert Heinlein.
A pivotal moment came on November 22, 1963, when he witnessed President John F. Kennedy shortly before his assassination—an event that deeply influenced his lifelong interest in “what if” scenarios and alternate timelines.
